OF THE KNOWLEDGE-BASED ECONOMY IN THE E.R.A”
that will take place on
28th November, 2005 in room BEL 53 5TH floor of the Committee of Regions in rue
Belliard, 101 , Brussels The event has been organised within the framework of
the IN.TRACK Project (INsular Regions Knowledge TRACKer), one of the 14 projects
financed by the European Commission – ‘KnowReg Pilot Action’ whose aim is to
foster the development and the implementation of the knowledge-based economy in
4 insular regions of the European Union.
IN.TRACK project partners,
acknowledging the important common challenges posed by the knowledge-based
economy to insular regions, commit to accomplish the goals of a diversified
economy built on Information Society and the converging technologies, while
strengthening an innovation culture built on private-public partnerships aimed
at enhancing the societal orientation towards education, research and continuous
training. Additionally, they share the vision that the cooperation and
networking among the regions is an important condition for the development of
the knowledge-based society and that can enable the growth of the social capital
, sustaining high quality of life standards, desirable by any European citizen.
This event offers insular regions an opportunity to learn about the
IN.TRACK experience, current initiatives in the participated 4 insular regions
and future actions. Therefore invites any interested region in Europe to
discover and join the initiative.
Looking forward to your participation.
Best regards,
